I don’t know about you but I have such a great dad I want to give him something from my heart this year– like fun and thoughtful Father’s Day gift baskets he will love. When else do I get the chance to show him how much I appreciate him being there for me all throughout my life anytime I needed him – or didn’t need him or so I thought. He’s a special man and more than worthy to be celebrated.
At the risk of sounding manipulative (which I sometimes might be, for the right reasons of course), presents are great opportunities to make somebody do something they wouldn’t normally try on their own. Especially if you are being especially sweet and thoughtful-recipients will at least attempt to like it when you’re around. Present your dad with healthy gift baskets to veer him away from those greasy fries and burgers for a change. Fresh fruit baskets are delicious choices.
If fresh fruit gift baskets really have no place in your dad’s heart; you don’t need to push it. It’s his day so prepare something he would like and just make it as healthy as possible. Take a large wicker basket and fill it with yummy treats like whole wheat bread, imported sausages, some fruit, nuts and maybe a bottle of sparkling wine. Your gift is not just a lovely lunch but a very rare picnic date together. Spend an afternoon of fun and bonding; it’s something he would appreciate more than anything.
What is your dad’s favorite pastime? Is it bowling? Dress up a bowling ball in sparkly wrapping paper for a good but not so surprising gift. Or how about this, get a large enough container put in a few miniature bowling pins and stick little bow ties on the necks of each one. Paste photos of whomever on them and have fun playing a small tournament in your home. Fill the container with other bowling paraphernalia-chocolates and candies are best.
Isn’t it great that parents love us no matter what so our love for them is not measured by the amount of the gifts we give them right? It’s no excuse not to give the best that we are currently able to give; but it does make DIY gift baskets extra special not just to them but to us as well.
An easy to do gift is putting together an album or two of his favorite songs you can download in the Internet. Google the pictures and get interesting trivia about the artists and print them out as your album’s CD cover and present them to your dad in a cute little container. Not a music guy? DVDs then. Tie the cases of his most watched TV shows or movies with a pretty red ribbon and hand the goodie bag over with flair.
Today we give special attention to the hero that needs no special mention, at least for him-our dad. He always provided and cared for us beyond what was expected of him; it’s your chance to show your appreciation with beautiful Father’s Day gift baskets that express your love.
